Black Tie on the Nieuw Amsterdam

“Recently returned from a Caribbean cruise that was not only a wonderful vacation but also a thought-provoking reminder of how far I’ve come in my black tie journey.”  — Peter Marshall of Black Tie Guide

Joseph Scherrer‘s insight:

My Mom and Dad have been taking cruises for the past several years.  They love them.  Cruising on some of the better lines offers one of the last places where you can re-create the classic black tie style of days gone by.

Peter Marshall of Black Tie Guide presents an inspiring post about his black tie journey.  In fact, he started the site in preparation for his first cruise in 2004.  From there it’s grown into the standard reference for all things related to formal dress.

He also gives a nice rundown of what it’s like to be held to a standard of formal dressing on the better cruise lines.

The white shawl collar tuxedo jacket he’s wearing also looks fantastic!
